About Mid-Atlantic Broadband Communities Corporation

Mid-Atlantic Broadband Communities Corporation (MBC) is a non-profit 501(c)(4) organization formed in 2004 to solve the rural telecommunications infrastructure challenge and promote economic development in Southern Virginia.  MBC is committed to providing economic development leadership and has a four-fold mission to promote economic development, reinvest in our communities, bridge the digital divide, and reduce the burdens of government.

MBC owns and operates an 1,800-mile advanced open-access fiber optic network, providing wholesale layer 1 and layer 2 transport services, colocation and tower leasing to level the playing field for business growth from a connectivity perspective.  The MBC network provides 10G and 100G transport services to major carrier interconnection and peering points in Ashburn, Virginia; Culpeper, Virginia; Richmond, Virginia; Charlotte, North Carolina; and Atlanta, Georgia.

Since its inception and by offering a state-of-the-art fiber optic network, MBC has supported the recruitment of major investments to Southern Virginia including data centers, call center/operations centers, advanced manufacturing, research and development, and bio-tech industries, with companies such as Microsoft and HP Enterprise locating their operations in the region.  MBC has helped bring over 2,000 jobs and $2 billion in investment to Southern Virginia since 2004.  For more information, visit www.mbc-va.com.
